It took me a while to finally decide what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. For years I worked in different offices doing your regular Monday through Friday 9-5 jobs. I always knew that that wasn’t for me and I didn’t want to just start college an jump into anything I wasn’t sure I wouldn’t be passionate about but I knew I wasn’t getting any younger. It wasn’t until I started getting familiar with doing nails that I surely knew I wanted to be in the business of beauty. I then began to look at a few school and realized Aveda was the best choice for me, and surely it was! Not only was I passionate about nails but thanks to Aveda I have a passion for hair as well.
Coming to Aveda was the best decision I’ve made. It is a great school and the teachers strive to set the best example. It definitely beats the other places I have visited. I believe a Aveda molds it’s students to become the best in the world!!!!

I chose the beauty industry because after years of putting time and effort into college and not loving what I was doing and also being in a job that I was unhappy with I was really not content with my choices. When I became a stay at home mom, while my husband worked I became content with staying in my pajamas all day and just not caring about how I looked. I started watching youtube videos on hair and make-up, so that I could learn to do it myself and save money. Being a stay at home mom was something I enjoyed but I had to learn to love it.
By mastering my techniques on hair and makeup it gave me something to look forward to and it improved my self-esteem. I would not only work on myself but I would work on my friends and the satisfaction I would get from their disbelief on how good they looked and felt was wonderful. It gave me such a great feeling that I wanted to keep doing it. I want to give my future clients that same feeling. You never know what’s going on in person’s personal life, so an act of kindness or a simple smile to a stranger might mean the world to them.
I initially called Aveda about to years ago but I then I chickened out because I felt I wasn’t ready yet. I Started working a corporate job and would dread the clocking in and out from 8am- 5pm. My only highlight for the day was interacting with the general public and helping to solve their issues. After almost 2years of working for someone else, I was fed up and I called Aveda on my lunch break and signed up for a tour. Once I hung up the phone I felt so much tension release from my body because I knew I was doing the right thing.
I choose Aveda because i knew that if I was gonna quit my job and make this sacrifice, that I wanted it to be worth it, I wanted the BEST. My husband was so supportive in my decision and even picked up a second job, just so that I could focus on my dream. These past 6 months at Aveda have been a whirlwind for me. I’ve enjoyed my time here and I don’t regret my decision at all.
Aveda is not only preparing me to be licensed as a cosmetologists but they’re also preparing me to turn what I love into a passion. Who wouldn’t want to do what they love into something you want to do for the rest of your life?!
