When I moved from suburban Philadelphia, I had a hard time finding a long term stylist until a friend recommended I try Aveda Institute in St Petersburg.  I went off and on for a few years seeing various students until I met Kenneth Hay (Mission Aveda, St Pete). We had a lot in common, from our age to the area we grew up in.  I felt that we could relate to each other and I told him of my dream to be a hairstylist since I was seven years old.  After one of my appointments, he scheduled me for a tour of the school.  My wheels started turning as I tried to figure out how I could juggle both school and my courier job of 30-years at FedEx. It wasn’t going to happen!, — at that time.  But that dream had planted in my brain until the timing was right and I was able to enroll as a full-time student.  I was so fortunate to be able to take an early retirement.  I’m too young to “not work” and I now have the opportunity to do what I always wanted to do.  It’s never too late to be what you might’ve been.

I’m such a strong supporter of Aveda hair and skin products, that I could never imagine promoting any other line.  I toured other local schools and there is no comparison to Aveda’s teaching structure, dedicated educators, facility, and commitment to people and the environment.

Aveda is like a family.  There was never a doubt in my mind that I would go anywhere else but Aveda Institute.”
