These beauty school students attend the Aveda Institute in Orlando, Florida. They have excelled in their classes to be recognized as July’s Students of the Month.
A Side Cosmetology Student – Brooke Heldreth
What I do as a student to stand out is just be present and be punctual. I come ready every day, and try to help anyone who may not be ready. I chose Aveda because I wanted the best education possible and I believe that I get that from Aveda. I went to Hagerty High School in Oviedo, FL.
I am a member of the Artistic Team and have participated in multiple school events and fashion shows. Outside of school I am involved in horseback riding. I’m really just an animal lover, considering my family and I have 11 animals! My work portfolio is looks_bybrooke on Instagram!
B Side Cosmetology Student – Alexis McKim
I never intentionally try and stand out, but I always look for ways to help my fellow classmates and the staff. If someone is running late on a service I’ll sweep for them and wash their color bowls, if they need products I’ll grab them. I just try and do things for others I’d want done for me.
I am hair obsessed so I don’t really have any hobbies besides stalking my favorite hairstylists Instagram pages. I graduated from Winter Park High School. I’m not on the artistic team but I have helped on multiple artistic team events. I chose Aveda because our mission really resonated with me. I care so deeply about the world we live in and I strive daily to make it a better place.

Esthiology – Cheri Cummings
I strive every day to make sure I am contributing. I have had classmates who don’t have money for lunch and I have paid for them to eat. I make a conscious effort to always ask anyone if they need help. I love to say good morning and compliment people at random. It feels great for me when I see other people happy and succeeding.
I chose Aveda because wellness is a priority for Aveda as much as it is for my life. For me, the goal is oneness with mind body and soul. I believe that in my life, in my marriage, and in my education.
I attended Edgewater High School here in Orlando. When I enrolled at Aveda I made the Artistic Team. I have participated in many incredible events with the team like Florida Hospital Prom, Runway to Hope, Seussical, and Mulan Jr. with Central Florida Community Arts. Throughout my life I have volunteered with YMCA and the Boys and Girls club. I have specifically mentored youth girls.
