Paying for school may seem overwhelming and scary, especially if you don’t know where to start. Rest assured that with the proper resources and guidance, you can pursue your passion and make your dreams a reality.
What is Federal Financial Aid?
Some beauty schools, like the Aveda Institute, accept Federal Financial Aid like a four-year university. As a beauty school applicant, you could be eligible to receive financial aid grants and loans when you fill out and apply for a Free Application for Federal Student Aid, otherwise known as a FAFSA. The Financial Aid funding comes directly from the United States Department of Education and is authorized under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965.
If you don’t fill out the FAFSA, you’ll be unable to receive any federal financial aid. If you’ve already filled it out this year for another application, you don’t need to submit a duplicate application.
How do I apply for Financial Aid?
When you apply for the Aveda Institute and book your tour, you’ll be set up with a dedicated Admissions Manager who will walk you through steps for applying for Financial Aid. If you want to get a head start, you can always create your FSA ID ahead of time using these steps listed here. It’s best to start the Financial Aid process early because you may be asked to submit more information to complete your federal application. As you move through the financial aid process, your Financial Aid Manager will guide you through various options to ensure you’re making the right decision for your future.
Am I eligible to receive scholarships?
There are many scholarship opportunities available for beauty school students in all programs and you are eligible to receive a scholarship even if you apply for financial aid. Many businesses and organizations provide scholarships to prospective students looking to impact the beauty industry. We have a full list of resources here that you may find helpful.
If you’re in high school, ask your counselor or college counselor for assistance! Counselors have access to resources that you might not know about. Additionally, salon owners can be a great reference! You might be able to convince a salon owner to help you with school if you can agree to work with them after graduation.
